Lung cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths worldwide, yet it often goes undetected until it’s in its advanced stages. Early detection is critical in saving lives, and radiologists play a pivotal role in identifying lung cancer early enough so that it can be treated. As we highlight Lung Cancer Awareness Month, it’s a timely reminder of how important radiologists are in the fight against this devastating disease.

The Critical Need for Lung Cancer Screening Education

Radiologists are often the first to see signs of lung cancer on imaging scans. They interpret these images, identifying abnormalities that may indicate cancer and ensuring patients receive timely follow-up care and treatment plans.

Our new Lung Cancer Screening courses, taught by Dr. Ella Kazerooni, was developed to provide radiologists with hands-on training using clinical cases so that they can continue to build on their knowledge and skills to identify lung cancer early enough to save a life.
