PATIENT HISTORY: 70 yo female with lung cancer, found to have new liver hypoattenuation lesion in segment IVa on surveillance CT chest.

MRI ABDOMEN W WO IV CONTRAST

INDICATION: 70 yo female with lung cancer, found to have new liver hypoattenuation lesion in segment IVa on surveillance CT chest.

COMPARISON: None.

TECHNIQUE: MRI of the abdomen was performed with and without contrast.


FINDINGS:

Hepatobiliary system: There is hepatic steatosis. There is a 1.5 cm region of focal fat deposition in segment IVa which corresponds to the recently described hypoattenuating focus. Unremarkable gallbladder. No biliary dilatation.

Hepatic vasculature: Patent.

Pancreas: Pancreatic divisum anatomy is incidentally seen.

Spleen: Unremarkable.

Adrenal glands: Unremarkable.

Kidneys: Unremarkable.

Bowel: Unremarkable.

Upper abdominal lymph nodes: No lymphadenopathy.

Peritoneum: No ascites.

Other: Significant plaque is seen involving the aorta and its branch vessels with infrarenal aortic ectasia appearing stable measuring up to 2.5 cm.


IMPRESSION:

The indeterminate hypoattenuating focus in segment IVa corresponds to benign focal fat deposition with background hepatic steatosis also noted.
