Patient History
Hoarseness and stridor.

Findings
Contrast-enhanced CT was performed from the skull base to the thoracic inlet. The study demonstrates ill-defined mass involving the subglottic larynx that appears to be arising from the left half of the cricoid cartilage. This mass is expanding the cricoid cartilage and associated with a likely chondroid matrix. There is associated surrounding soft tissue mass that extends into the adjacent soft tissues. This mass subglottic larynx and extends from the undersurface of the true vocal cords to approximately the 1st tracheal ring. The superior aspect of the mass involves the undersurface of the left true vocal cord resulting in mild left medialization of the cord.

No evidence of aggressive lesions is identified in the nasopharynx, oral cavity, or hypopharynx. No evidence of enlarged lymph nodes using standard size criteria.

Visualized portion of the brain is grossly within normal limits. However, dedicated brain imaging is necessary for complete diagnostic evaluation.

Visualized portion of the lungs appears to be within normal limits. However, dedicated chest CT is necessary for complete diagnostic evaluation.

Conclusions
1. Subglottic mass arising from the left half of the cricoid cartilage that appears to have a chondroid matrix with associated soft tissue mass resulting in narrowing of the subglottic larynx. Findings are most consistent with a chondrosarcoma of the cricoid cartilage.
