Course Description

The stakes are high in patients with complex obstetric conditions, many of which place patients at increased risk of severe peripartum hemorrhage, and thus maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality.

Medality (formerly MRI Online) is pleased to bring you this important new Mastery Course to help you gain an awareness of the imaging features of rare and/or high-risk obstetric conditions, and how to recognize and communicate with urgency your findings to ensure high quality care for this patient population.

Join Dr. Gomez (Johns Hopkins) as she reviews expected changes to the uterus and ovaries during pregnancy, indications for ultrasound, CT, and MRI during pregnancy, and key imaging features of acute abdominopelvic pathology during pregnancy, placenta accreta spectrum, ectopic pregnancy, and other high-risk OB and peripartum processes.

Dr. Gomez will also review normal female pelvic anatomy and salient features of normal pregnancies, including multiple gestations, during the first, second, and third trimesters (with particular focus on assessing the embryo or fetus, gestational sac, and placenta), as well as her imaging approach to specific diagnoses such as:

  • Placenta accreta spectrum
  • Placenta percreta with bladder invasion
  • Appendicitis in the pregnant patient
  • Cesarean section scar ectopic
  • Second trimester pregnancy with bilateral adnexal masses
  • Ovarian torsion
  • Tubal ectopic pregnancy
  • Uterine Incarceration
  • …and more

Optimize your learning:

  • Test Yourself – Before starting the video, launch the DICOM study and complete your independent review of the case in our diagnostic web viewer.
  • Review at your own pace – Reminder to utilize the video player features to speed up or slow down the video, pause or rewind to best fit your available time and learning needs.
  • Read alongside Dr. Gomez – Keep the DICOM study open while you watch Dr. Gomez review the cases. We suggest popping the DICOM viewer open in a new window and viewing side by side with the video on your screen.

After you’re done, check out these additional OB/Gyn Mastery Courses for further in-depth case review:

Learn alongside Dr. Erin Gomez (Johns Hopkins) as she walks through the indications, protocols, and key imaging features of high-risk obstetric conditions on ultrasound, CT, and MRI.
