Report

Patient History
14-year-old boy with right hip pain and possible SCFE

Findings
SKELETAL: Widened growth plate. Irregular growth plate. Medial and posterior displacement of the femoral capital epiphysis is most compatible with slipped capital femoral epiphysis. The medial and posterior margins of the meta-epiphyseal junction are offset. No signs of avascular necrosis.

PELVIS: No signs of pelvic or acetabular dysplasia.

JOINTS: Moderate-sized joint effusion without synovitis. Acetabular coverage is normal. No signs of intraarticular dysplasia. No evidence of pulvinaric hypertrophy.

ACETABULUM/LABRUM: Gentle fissuring of the anterosuperior labrum, series 13, image 15. Normal acetabular shape, cup depth, and configuration.

MUSCLES/TENDONS/LIGAMENTS: No muscular atrophy. Hip flexors, extensors, abductors and abductors are unremarkable. Ligamentum teres, transverse acetabular ligament, and iliofemoral ligament are intact although the latter stretched and redundant.

OTHER/SOFT TISSUE: Noncontributory.

Conclusion
Slipped capital femoral epiphysis with joint effusion. No evidence of AVN, dysplasia, or pulvinaric hypertrophy.
