EXAM: US Testicular W/Doppler
INDICATION: 17-year-old male with right scrotal pain for 2 days.
TECHNIQUE: Ultrasound imaging of the scrotum and testicles was obtained using two-dimensional grayscale imaging. Color Doppler images were obtained to evaluate vascular flow.
FINDINGS:
The right testicle has normal contour and is without mass. There is normal testicular Doppler flow. The testicle measures 2.4 x 1.3 x 1.6 cm, for a total volume of 2.5 mL. The right epididymis has moderate edema, with increased vascularity. There is also edema in the distal spermatic cord. The vessels of the spermatic cord are normal without coiling. Moderate right hydrocele.
The left testicle has normal contour and is without mass. The left testicle measures 2.3 x 1.0 x 1.5 cm, for a total volume of 1.6 mL. There is normal Doppler flow. The left epididymis appears normal.
IMPRESSIONS:
Vascular flow identified within both testicles.
Right epididymal edema and hypervascularity, as well as moderate hydrocele, compatible with infectious/inflammatory epididymitis.
