Course Description

In this course, Dr. Mahan Mathur (Yale School of Medicine) will teach you his approach to the imaging of renal transplant on ultrasound, along with the role of CT and MRI where appropriate.

Join Dr. Mathur as he discusses the normal anatomy of renal transplants and the expected imaging appearance in a variety of different clinical settings. Using a case-based approach, Dr. Mathur  will walk you through the various vascular and nonvascular complications that can occur and what factors to consider in narrowing down your differential diagnosis. Dr. Mathur will also share with you how he determines whether a complication requires surgical management or medical management.

This course will prepare you to confidently identify renal transplant related complications on ultrasound through case reviews of diagnoses including:

  • Acute and chronic rejections
  • Renal artery stenosis (RAS)
  • Pyelonephritis
  • Hydronephrosis due to nephrolithiasis
  • Renal infarct
  • Vascular compromise due to subcapsular hematoma
  • Acute tubular necrosis
  • Post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD)
  • …and more!

Optimize your learning:

  • Test Yourself Before starting the video, launch the DICOM study and complete your independent review of the case in our diagnostic web viewer.
  • Review at your own pace – Reminder to utilize the video player features to speed up or slow down the video, pause or rewind to best fit your available time and learning needs.
  • Read alongside Dr. Mathur Keep the DICOM study open while you watch Dr. Mathur review the cases. We suggest popping the DICOM viewer open in a new window and viewing side by side with the video on your screen.

After you’re done, check out these additional Body Imaging Mastery Courses for further in-depth case review:

Join Dr. Mahan Mathur as he provides an in-depth review of renal transplant anatomy, ultrasound imaging protocols, and case examples of vascular and non-vascular renal transplant complications.
