Dr. Pomeranz is very passionate about the topic of sports hernias – in fact, he wrote an entire textbook on the topic! Part of understanding these enigmatic injuries is realizing that the name is misleading; sports hernias are not true hernias. Sports hernias describe a group of diagnoses that stem from a muscular imbalance which diminish leg drive. Radiologists’ ability to source the cause of a patient’s symptoms is a key factor in helping athletes return to play.
