Course Description

Welcome to the Medality (formerly MRI Online) Breast MRI Fellowship!

This is a case-based curriculum that over 5 weeks will enable you to:

  1. Discuss common indications for breast MRI 
  2. Apply the 2013 ACR BI-RADS lexicon to report findings
  3. Identify and categorize common artifacts
  4. Recognize typical physiological changes
  5. Identify, evaluate and discriminate between common benign and malignant findings on contrast-enhanced MRI
  6. Recognize findings that impact breast cancer staging 
  7. Formulate management plans based on MRI findings
  8. Interpret non-enhanced breast MRI implant rupture studies 

This course will include 25 cases supported by additional video and PDF materials.

Breast MRI technique

Covers:

  • Basic hardware/software needs
  • Crucial imaging factors
  • Typical basic sequences for contrast enhanced breast MR
  • CAD/kinetic basics

Breast MRI current uses  

Covers:

  • Screening high risk patients who meet criteria of genetic, calculated risk, hx of chest radiation, etc
  • Diagnostic extent of disease in newly diagnosed breast cancer ipsilateral, contralateral breasts and locoregional LN
  • Diagnostic LN+ but occult primary site
  • Diagnostic neoadjuvant chemotherapy pre- and post-therapy response
  • Diagnostic other examples are bloody nipple discharge, problem-solving mammogram finding, etc
  • Diagnostic noncontrast study silicone breast implant integrity

Dr. Lewis provides pearls and exceptional examples of the ACR BIRADS Reference card page 2 MR. NB: it is very helpful to frequently refer to the reference card during this video.

NOTE: If you do not have time prior to the course, we encourage you to complete it at your earliest convenience.  If you are an Medality (formerly MRI Online) member, you will have access to prerequisites for the course as long as you are a member.  If you are not an Medality (formerly MRI Online) member, you will have access to prerequisites for two years after the first day of the course.
