Course Description

Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths for both men and women in the U.S. and worldwide. Early detection through screening and effective management of incidental lung nodules are crucial for improving survival rates. Radiologists and radiology practices play a vital role in lung cancer screening programs, from ensuring high-risk individuals are properly screened to ensuring patients with abnormal results return for follow-up. Additionally, the appropriate management of findings is essential for comprehensive care and improved outcomes.

In this fundamentals course, Dr. Ella Kazerooni provides a comprehensive overview of lung cancer screening, focusing on eligibility criteria and the importance of early detection. You’ll learn a systematic approach to interpreting and reporting lung cancer screening CTs, with practical tools (including Artificial Intelligence) and techniques.

Dr. Kazerooni will also cover the use of LungRADS to differentiate between low- and high-risk findings, lung nodule morphology and growth assessment, ACS guidelines, overview and management of incident findings, and protocols for imaging and radiation dose considerations.

Apply what you’ve learned in this course and read alongside Dr. Kazerooni in Lung Cancer Screening CT as she showcases her approach to the identification of nodules and common incidental findings, such as smoking-related lung disease, cardiovascular conditions, and other malignancies, and how to recommend appropriate management strategies.
