This is a case of a patient who was post-op after repair
0:05
of a cholesteatoma and there was continued conductive
0:10
hearing loss.
0:11
On the axial thin-section CISS images,
0:17
one can see that there is a round process which is
0:23
present within the mastoid bowl of the left temporal
0:28
bone. As you can see on the diffusion-weighted scan,
0:32
there's no question,
0:33
but this is bright in signal intensity.
0:36
So a large area of high signal intensity on the
0:41
diffusion-weighted scan,
0:43
corresponding to the same area on the CISS image.
0:49
The ADC map shows that the area has dark signal
0:55
intensity and therefore shows restricted diffusion.
1:00
So let me just...
1:01
there we go, right there.
1:03
Dark in signal intensity,
1:05
corresponding to the bright in signal intensity,
1:07
DWI, identifying this as showing restricted diffusion and
1:11
therefore another example of residual or recurrent
1:16
cholesteatoma in the setting of a patient who was post-op.
