Report

Patient History
14-year-old female with left hip pain.

Findings
SKELETAL: Generalized trochanteric osteoedema with scant extension towards the shaft and femoral neck. Findings surround a focal area of intermediate T1 and increased STIR signal intensity surrounded by a low signal intensity rim. Size is less than 3-4mm. Location is cortical/subcortical.

PELVIS: Normal. No signs of dysplasia.

JOINTS: Normal.

ACETABULUM/LABRUM: Normal.

MUSCLES/TENDONS/LIGAMENTS: Mild soft tissue swelling. Tendon and ligamentous structures are normal.

OTHER/SOFT TISSUE: Swelling around the greater trochanter.
Conclusion
Focal lesion at the base of the greater trochanter, cortical or subcortical, in a 14-year-old strongly favors osteoid osteoma.
