Coronal Anatomy: Extrinsic Ligaments Part 2

HIDE
PrevNext

0:00

So here's a coronal water-weighted MRI.

0:02

Let's find the tip of the scaphoid, which we

0:05

want to stabilize and keep it from wiggling

0:07

around, especially anterior to posterior.

0:11

And one of the more subtle ligaments to

0:13

stabilize it is the scaphotrapeziotrapezoid ligament.

0:17

There are some subtle components

0:20

of the scaphotrapezoid ligament.

0:22

Remember, they'll be found on both

0:24

the ventral and dorsal surfaces.

0:26

They're pretty hard to separate and localize,

0:28

ventrally and dorsally, but you can pick them up now and again.

0:31

There's another component of the

0:34

scaphotrapeziotrapezoid ligament seen more radially.

0:38

And I'll just slide backwards and forwards

0:40

so you can see just how subtle they are.

0:42

There's another component of it, and then

0:44

as we get more into the ventral aspect of

0:46

the wrist, there is a trapezial component

0:49

of the scaphotrapeziotrapezoid ligament.
