DIAGNOSIS: Neuroblastoma
EXAM: US Abdomen Limited
INDICATION: Abdominal pain and concern for intussusception.
TECHNIQUE: Ultrasound imaging of the four quadrants of the abdomen was performed, using two-dimensional grayscale imaging. Color Doppler images were also obtained to evaluate vascular flow.
FINDINGS:
No intussusception is visualized within the abdomen. There is a large abdominal mass which originates from the right adrenal gland and extends the midline and within the retroperitoneum. Additionally, there appears to be surrounding lymph node conglomerates. There is mass effect of the infrarenal IVC and right renal vasculature, secondary to encasement by a large, intra- abdominal mass.
There is moderate dilatation of the minor and major calyces of the right kidney, consistent with grade 3 hydronephrosis. The urinary bladder is distended with Foley catheter instrumentation.
IMPRESSIONS:
Large abdominal mass extending from the right adrenal gland and encasing the abdominal vasculature, with mass effect on the IVC and right renal vessels.
Right grade 3 hydronephrosis due to mass effect.
