Program Description

Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) is a brain disorder that is characterized by the inability to stop or control alcohol use despite adverse consequences. This session explores in detail the genetics, causes and risk factors of AUD, as well as comorbidities, screening, diagnosis, brief intervention, and referral for treatment (SBIRT). Special populations including adolescents, women, and veterans are discussed.  Great attention is given to treatment options including pharmacotherapeutic agents.
