Pain triceps tendon tear.

Long- and short-axis fat- and water-weighted images were performed.

CASE FINDINGS
- The medial collateral ligament is intact. The common flexor tendon is normal.
- The radial collateral ligament is intact. The lateral ulnar collateral ligament is intact. 8mm undersurface partial-thickness tear of the proximal common extensor tendon consistent with clinical lateral epicondylitis.
- Biceps and brachialis tendons are normal.
- Full-thickness tear of the distal triceps tendon from the olecranon with 3cm of retraction. The distal tendon is thickened and edematous. Associated grade 2 muscular strain of the distal triceps muscle with crimping of muscle fibers and edema. No well-defined intramuscular hematoma.
- The cubital tunnel and ulnar nerve are normal.
- No bony fracture or contusion to suggest elbow dislocation.
CASE CONCLUSION
- Full-thickness tear of the distal triceps tendon with 3cm of retraction and associated grade 2 muscular strain of the distal triceps muscle.
- 8mm undersurface partial-thickness tear of the proximal common extensor tendon consistent with lateral epicondylitis.
