TECHNICAL FACTORS

Sagittal and coronal imaging of the temporomandibular joints was performed. Imaging was performed in closed-mouth and open-mouth positioning.

CASE FINDINGS

On the left in closed-mouth positioning anterior displacement of the temporomandibular joint meniscus is observed. Recapture occurs during mouth opening. On the right the temporomandibular joint meniscus appears normal in location. No osseous erosion is identified.

CASE CONCLUSION

  • On the left in closed-mouth positioning anterior displacement of the temporomandibular joint meniscus is observed with recapture during mouth opening. 
  • On the right in closed- and open-mouth positioning the right temporomandibular joint meniscus is normal in location.
