CASE HISTORY

Left TMJ pain. 

TECHNICAL FACTORS

Sagittal and coronal imaging of the temporomandibular joints was performed. Imaging was performed in closed- and open-mouth positioning.

CASE FINDINGS

In closed-mouth positioning on the left slight anterior displacement of the temporomandibular joint meniscus is observed. On the right in closed-mouth positioning anterior displacement of the meniscus is observed. Recapture of the meniscus occurs bilaterally with mouth opening. 

There is no evidence of erosive arthropathy.

CASE CONCLUSION

Mild anterior displacement of the temporomandibular joint menisci is observed bilaterally with recapture of the menisci during mouth opening.
