Lissencephaly – Lacking band type Heterotopia

HIDE
PrevNext

0:01

This is an MRI of the brain in a two-and-a-half

0:03

year-old child with developmental delay.

0:06

On the T2-weighted image,

0:07

we're seeing the sulcation pattern.

0:10

We're seeing more Gyri than in some of the more

0:15

recent cases, but it's still not normal.

0:18

sulcation pattern.

0:19

We're seeing paucity of sulcation.

0:23

And on this sagittal T1-weighted image,

0:26

we can also see.

0:27

While we see Gyri throughout

0:30

both cerebral hemispheres,

0:31

anterior and posterior,

0:34

it's still not the same degree of sulcation

0:36

like we normally see.

0:38

Now, the one thing also that we can see well

0:41

on the T1-weighted image

0:43

is we see the nice gray matter.

0:46

And beneath that,

0:47

we see the white matter.

0:48

There's no band-type heterotopia.

0:51

So, this is a diffuse mild

0:54

lissencephaly spectrum disorder,

0:56

involving both cerebral hemispheres,

0:59

anterior and posteriorly,

1:01

without band-type heterotopia.
