25-year-old woman with bilateral breast implants and palpable lump in right breast

Our next patient is a 25-year-old woman

0:03

with bilateral breast implants and

0:05

a palpable lump in the right breast.

0:09

And for this patient, because she's under

0:12

age 30, we're going to start with ultrasound,

0:14

and we would only do a mammogram if it

0:17

was deemed necessary by the radiologist.

0:22

So we started with ultrasound in this patient,

0:25

and you can see that there is a mass here.

0:30

With low-level internal echoes, oval mass,

0:35

the borders are a little bit indistinct.

0:38

You can see the mass and this was what

0:40

was palpable, but the borders may be

0:42

a little irregular, a little indistinct.

0:45

And it's about

0:46

2.1 centimeters in greatest dimension.

0:49

We can also see the implant

0:51

capsule here and implant below.

0:55

And there's some blood flow internally.

0:59

So for this patient, 25-year-old, this is

1:02

most likely going to be a fibroadenoma, but it

1:06

doesn't meet all the criteria for a classic

1:10

fibroadenoma in that the borders

1:13

are not perfectly well-circumscribed.

1:16

So this was recommended for biopsy.

1:18

So this was given a biopsy for

1:20

assessment and ultrasound biopsy was

1:23

recommended, which was subsequently

1:25

performed and yielded a fibroadenoma.
