Our next patient is a 62-year-old woman
0:03
recalled from screening for evaluation
0:05
of distortion in the left breast.
0:08
So these are the screening views for this patient.
0:11
So she has heterogeneously dense breasts
0:14
tissue, which makes things more difficult.
0:16
But she was recalled for suspected distortion
0:19
right here in the left upper outer breast.
0:23
And we'll just take a closer look at that.
0:27
So here's the CC view on tomosynthesis,
0:32
and it was right in here where the tissue looked
0:35
a little bit pulled in or distorted, and then
0:40
on the MLO view, it was right in this area.
0:47
So when she came back, we did some extra views.
0:52
This was the MLO spot compression view, and the
0:56
area of interest is kind of right up in here.
1:01
This is the tomosynthesis
1:07
kind of right in here.
1:09
And then we did a CC spot with tomosynthesis.
1:17
I might have to magnify this a little bit
1:19
to show you, but there's a little bit of
1:22
distortion right in here where the lines kind of
1:26
converge centrally, but this is pretty subtle.
1:30
So we looked with ultrasound as well,
1:33
and this is what we saw with ultrasound.
1:35
So this is in the left breast.
1:37
1 o'clock position, 6 centimeters from the nipple.
1:40
There's this irregular hypoechoic
1:43
mass, about 7 millimeters in size.
1:49
Some blood flow around it.
1:53
But that's what correlates with that distortion
1:56
that we were seeing on the mammogram.
1:59
And we looked at the axilla.
2:00
Lymph nodes looked okay.
2:03
So we recommended biopsy of this
2:05
mass using ultrasound guidance.
2:08
And this was an invasive ductal carcinoma.
