0:00

Our next patient is a 60-year-old

0:02

woman recalled for evaluation of

0:04

calcifications in the right breast.

0:08

So these are the screening views for our patient,

0:12

and these are actually 2D mammograms by the

0:15

patient's choice, and there are calcifications

0:19

involving the right upper outer breast.

0:23

Just to look at them a little bit more closely.

0:26

Fairly large area in the right breast.

0:30

And here's the MLO (mediolateral oblique) view.

0:33

That was the recalled finding.

0:35

And the patient returned for additional

0:38

images, including, uh, magnification views.

0:41

So here are the magnification views for her.

0:45

This is the CC magnification view.

0:48

I'm just gonna make it a little larger.

0:51

You can see that there's a

0:52

large area of calcifications.

0:56

Some of the calcifications are

0:58

linear and linear branching.

1:00

Others are a little bit more amorphous.

1:03

But it's a pretty large area.

1:06

This is the lateral magnification view, and just

1:10

again showing this large area of calcification,

1:14

some of which are linear and linear branching.

1:18

This is concerning for ductal carcinoma in situ.

1:23

A biopsy was recommended using mammogram guidance.

1:26

So the biopsy was performed and actually

1:29

showed not only the expected ductal carcinoma

1:32

in situ, but also invasive ductal carcinoma.

1:36

There really was no visible mass

1:37

here, but there were areas of invasion

1:40

within that asymmetric breast tissue.
