Case 17 - 56-year-old female presents with bump at the base of small finger

<div>HISTORY:&#160;This 56-year-old female presents with bump at the base of small finger on left hand for six months with mild symptoms of swelling and difficulty applying pressure. History of inflammatory arthritis.MASS IS LOCATED IN THE SOFT TISSUES RADIAL TO THE PROXIMAL PHALANX OF WHICH FINGER:Fifth.Using the&#160;diagnostic web viewer, we have provided images that assist in telling our clinical story. Areas of significance are indicated below.FINDINGS: No acute bony macrofracture or contusion. No osteochondral erosion in the metacarpophalangeal joints or interphalangeal joints. Muscles and tendons intact. No acute ligamentous sprain.A 1.0cm x 1.0cm x 1.6cm mass within soft tissues at radial aspect of fifth proximal phalanx with uniform enhancement. The lesion is isointense on T1 sequence and hyperintense on T2 sequence to the muscles. No substantive adjacent soft tissue edema.&#160;IMPRESSION: Left Pinky Finger: A mass with a granular internal appearance in the soft tissues radial to the proximal phalanx of the fifth finger, differential includes nerve sheath tumor (e.g., Antoni B cell schwannoma) from a dorsal digital nerve, less likely giant cell tumor of tendon sheath and a fibrous tumor. Favor nonaggressive etiology.</div>
