Case 23 - 57-year-old male presents with pain in right hand

<div>HISTORY:&#160;This 57-year-old male presents with pain in right hand for 3-4 weeks.FINGER WITH RUPTURE OF EXTENSOR DIGITORUM TENDON:2nd.Using the&#160;diagnostic web viewer, we have provided images that assist in telling our clinical story. Areas of significance are indicated below.FINDINGS: No acute bony macrofracture or contusion. A moderate amount of effusion at the distal radioulnar joint. Carpal bones normal in alignment. Small foci of osteochondral erosion scattered in the carpal bones.Interstitial tendinopathy of 4th extensor tendon group with peritendinitis. Recurrent rupture of extensor digitorum tendon to the 2nd finger with a 3 cm gap. The perceived nodule is the distal stump of the tendon. A new slit-like 3mm interstitial tear of the extensor indicis tendon epicentered around the carpometacarpal articulation. The remaining extensor tendon groups intact. Flexor tendons intact.&#160;No acute muscle strain.&#160;CONCLUSION:&#160;1. Recurrent rupture of extensor digitorum tendon to the 2nd finger with a hypertrophic stump at the marked gel cap. Interval development of a thin slit-like interstitial tear of extensor indicis tendon.&#160;2. Mild-moderate arthrosis at the midcarpal compartment with small foci of osteochondral erosion.&#160;3. Interstitial tendinopathy of the remaining extensor digitorum tendons.</div>
