Case 17 - 50-year-old male presents with right hip pain

<div>HISTORY:&#160;This 50-year-old male presents with right hip pain, worse during the past five months, with stiffness and limited range of motion.NOT A PRIMARY FINDING:&#160;Abnormal overall marrow signal.Using the&#160;diagnostic web viewer, we have provided images that assist in telling our clinical story. Areas of significance are indicated below.FINDINGS: Osseous structures appear grossly intact and exhibit normal overall marrow signal. Moderate (class 3) degenerative chondromalacia is identified involving the weightbearing aspect of the hip articulation. Bony proliferative alteration is identified involving the lateral aspect of the femoral head / neck junction without evidence of cystic change. Superolateral labral degeneration is identified without evidence of detached labral tear. Small, posterior, paralabral cyst measuring approximately 5mm is demonstrated. The muscles are normal in appearance. Sacroiliac articulation appears preserved.&#160;CONCLUSION:&#160;Moderate (class 3) degenerative chondromalacia accompanied by diffuse labral degeneration and posterior paralabral cyst measuring approximately 5mm, indicative of chronic tear. Undercoverage consistent with developmental dysplasia of the hip.</div>
